Complex Small‐Molecule Architectures Regulate Phenotypic Plasticity in a Nematode

Abstract: Aus modifizierten Bausteinen des Primärmetabolismus, darunter auch ein ungewöhnliches Xylopyranose‐Nucleosid (siehe Schema), baut der Nematode Pristionchus pacificus niedermolekulare Substanzen auf, die als Signalmoleküle die Entwicklung und Elastizität des adulten Phänotyps lenken. Sie sind Beispiele für die modulare Erzeugung struktureller Diversität in Metazoen.
