“…In aqueous solution, at 25°C and in the presence of PDC (p K 1 =4.4, p K 2 =2.1, and p K 3 =0.4) 24, aluminum can give different species, notwithstanding hydroxyl complexes. Four hydroxylated aluminum complexes having [Al(OH) n ] as general formula can be formed and their stability constant values are 8.6, 18.0, 26.3, and 32.4 for n =1, 2, 3, and 4, respectively 25.…”

“…Depending on pH, the [Al(OH) 3 ] complex can precipitate (p K s =33) 25. According to Bombi 24, four Al(III)/PDC complexes can be present in solution: [Al‐PDC] + , [Al‐PDC 2 ] − , [Al‐PDC‐OH], and [Al‐PDC 2 ‐OH] 2− , with stability constants estimated to 4.7, 7.8, 14.4, and 16.6, respectively. Other species resulting from the complexation of aluminum with chloride or nitrate ions could be present but were not retained, as they do not induce modifications of the speciation diagram.…”

“…Increasing the pH from 3.8 to 8.0, the peaks current of zinc and cadmium decreased. Dipicolinic acid (H 2 X) is a triprotic acid which its pK a values were reported by Di Marco et al [20]. They reported the values < 0.4, 2.1 and 4,383 for pK a1 , pK a2 and pK a3 respectively.…”

“…The first deprotonation of H 3 X + is due to the pyridinium and the other two are due to the benzoic groups present in dipicolinic acid. One of the interesting features of H 2 X is its ability to form stable complex with a different metal ions in acidic solution (at pH 4) [20][21][22][23]. In the other hand, at pH 3.8 which is close to third ionization constant (pK a3 ) of H 2 X, formation of metal ion complexes at the surface of the electrode in preconcentration step in the anodic stripping voltammetry are possible.…”
