Complexes of 2-Thioacetic Acid Benzothiazole with Some Metal Ions

Abstract: New metal complexes of the ligand 2-thioacetic acid benzothiazole with the metal ions Ni(II), Cu(II), Zn(II), Cd(II) and Sn(II) were prepared in alcoholic medium. The prepared complexes were characterized by FTIR Spectroscopy, electronic spectroscopy, 1H NMR, 13C NMR, magnetic susceptibility and conductivity measurements. From the spectral measurements, monomer structures for the complexes were proposed. Square planar geometry was proposed for the copper complex. The other complexes were proposed to be tetrahe… Show more

“…The observed bands for the Ni(II) complex and its diamagnetic behaviour agrees well with the proposed square planar geometry [26, 30]. The electronic spectrum of the Cu(II) complex displays a broad band assigned to 2 B 1 g → 2 Eg transition, corresponding to square planar geometry [29, 30]. A magnetic moment of 1.51 B.M.…”

“…Magnetic susceptibility and conductivity measurements: The magnetic properties of transition metal complexes coordination compound are due to unpaired electrons bearing in the partially filled d-orbital in the outer shell of these elements [14]. The complex dimagnetic moment in solid state is breakthrough to be zero Niels Bohr magneton and Ag (I) metal moiety exhibited linear geometry.…”

“…Furthermore, researchers are recently developing polymer materials using d-block transition metal complexes because of their novel and extraordinary properties [3][4][5]. e polymer-metal complexes are now being synthesized, whereupon their aromatic and aliphatic monomers with functional groups contain donor atoms such as nitrogen, sulphur, and oxygen (N, S, and O) [6,7].…”
