Component systems have become a wide-spread technology and found their place in several application domains. Each component system has its specifics and particularities that reflect its focus and the application domain it is intended for. Although important, the diversity of component systems leads to a number of problems including having different tools for each systems, unnecessary duplication of functionality and problems with integration when several domains are to be targeted. Based on categorization of component application domains, we propose a "meta-component system", which provides a software product line for creating custom component systems. We focus especially on the deployment and execution environment, which is where most diversities are found. We demonstrate the usage of the "meta-component system" and propose how it is to be realized by two core concepts of SOFA 2, namely connector generator and microcomponents.

Abstract:The Component Based System (CBS) paradigm is now largely used to design software systems. In addition, performance and behavioural analysis remains a required step for the design and the construction of efficient systems. This is especially the case of CBS, which involve interconnected components running concurrent processes. This paper proposes a compositional method for modeling and structured performance analysis of CBS. Modeling is based on Stochastic Well-formed Nets (SWN), a high level model of Stochastic Petri nets, widely used for dependability analysis of concurrent systems. Starting from the definition of the system given in a suitable Architecture Description Language, and from the definition of the elementary components, we build an SWN of the global system together with a set of SWNs modeling the components of the CBS and their connections. From these models, we derive performances of the system thanks to a structured analysis induced by the structure of the CBS. We describe the application of our method through an example designed in the framework of the CORBA Component Model.

With the development of ARM (Advanced RISC Machines) microprocessor embedded system, a method of graphical programming software development is more and more important. The system consists of PC graphical programming software, USB program transmitter and ARM development platform. It is mainly used for developing of graphic software. It can program conveniently through the graphical way, and can perform various functions vividly. The graphical programming software can automatically generate C-code. The system allows novice developers to understand the core of ARM quickly, while the function of auto-generated C code also helps developers to learn the ARM library and intuitive.
