Composite Scaffolds of Gelatin and Fe3O4 Nanoparticles for Magnetic Hyperthermia‐Based Breast Cancer Treatment and Adipose Tissue Regeneration

Abstract: Postsurgical treatment of breast cancer remains a challenge with regard to killing residual cancer cells and regenerating breast defects. To prepare composite scaffolds for postoperative use, gelatin is chemically modified with folic acid (FA) and used for hybridization with citrate‐modified Fe3O4 nanoparticles (Fe3O4‐citrate NPs) to fabricate Fe3O4/gelatin composite scaffolds which pore structures are controlled by free ice microparticles. The composite scaffolds have large spherical pores that are interconne… Show more

“…Its pathophysiology presents a series of challenges, including the need to identify new prevention and treatment strategies, aiming to improve patients’ quality of life affected by this disease [ 46 , 47 , 48 , 49 ]. Recent studies have provided promising evidence of the benefits of omega-3 supplementation and complementary therapies in combination with chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and surgical procedures for patients with BC [ 50 , 51 , 52 , 53 ].…”

“…The P-glycoprotein mRNA expression levels in the cells/agarose and cells/agarose/DOX constructs were analyzed after cell culturing for 36 h using real-time PCR according to a previous method [ 55 , 56 ]. The samples were immersed in 1 mL of a Sepasol solution (Nacalai Tesque, Kyoto, Japan) for extraction of total RNA.…”

“…The usual treatment is removal of a breast tumor or breast. This can cause serious harm to the patient’s mentality. Therefore, breast reconstruction is particularly important . Liu et al prepared decellularized breast scaffolds by decellularizing human breast cancer biopsy specimens with sodium lauryl ether sodium sulfate (SLES) solution, and made a certain contribution to the effective treatment of breast cancer in the future …”
