Compositional engineering of ZnBr2-doped CsPbBr3 perovskite nanocrystals: insights into structure transformation, optical performance, and charge-carrier dynamics

Naresh Varnakavi,
Kiran Gupta,
Kyunghoon Lee
et al.

Abstract: ZnBr2 incorporated CsPbBr3 transformed into to Cs4PbBr6via the intermediate CsPbBr3/Cs4PbBr6 heterostructure, resulting in improved PL characteristics (near unity PLQY).

“…It is difficult to precisely determine the location and distribution of dopants within the host matrix. To address this, researchers employ a combination of techniques such as X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), extended X-ray absorption fine structure (EXAFS) spectroscopy, high-resolution synchrotron XRD, , and first-principles calculations. These methods are used to investigate the doping mechanisms and accurately identify the positions of dopant ions within the lattice, which are crucial for drawing accurate conclusions.…”

“…To date, two classes of solution processes have been developed to synthesize perovskite nanostructures and prepare highly efficient emissive layers. First, monodispersed nanoparticles are easily obtained via ligand-assisted reprecipitation, whereby the nanoparticle surfaces are decorated with hydrophobic ligands to enhance their environmental stability and film coatability. Combined with compositional engineering, their broadband visible emission under controlled wavelengths expands their applicability for light-emitting diodes (LEDs) and color filters. Second, the thin-film fabrication process based on the direct coating of precursor solutions is another solution process. The precursor films are annealed to rapidly form perovskite crystals.…”
