The fishing industry at the present stage of the development of economic relations in Russia belongs to strategically important areas of ensuring the food security of the state. The sanctions policy pursued by a number of countries against Russia has affected, among other things, the fishing industry. Meeting the needs of the country's population in high-quality fish and seafood products is one of the main goals of the production and economic activities of fisheries enterprises. The Russian Federation has huge water resources, which objectively determines the presence of a large number of enterprises related to the fishing industry. Despite this, on the one hand, there is no wide range of products on the fish and seafood market, and on the other hand, prices for available fish and seafood are growing much faster than prices for meat, vegetables and fruits. In recent years, there has been a constant situation in which the volume of fish and seafood production by domestic mining enterprises tends to increase, and the average per capita consumption of fish by the population of the country is constantly falling. At the same time, the fisheries complex has a huge potential for its successful development both in the present and in the future. There is an objective need to identify, classify and evaluate the influence of factors that ensure these trends, as well as further research aimed at reversing the identified trends towards expanding and more fully saturating the domestic market with fish products. Conclusions are drawn about the need to develop a set of measures to improve the efficiency of the final results of production and economic activities of enterprises of the fishing industry.
