Comprehensive modeling and parameter identification of wind farms based on wide-area measurement systems

Abstract: With intermittence and stochastics of wind power largely introduced into power systems, power system stability analysis and control is in urgent need of reliable wind farm models. Considering the superiority of wide-area measurement systems, this paper develops a novel methodology for practical synchrophasor measurement-based modeling and parameter identification of wind farms. For the sake of preserving basic structural characteristics and control patterns simultaneously, a comprehensive wind farm model is co… Show more

“…As direct current (DC) capacitors, filter inductors and equivalent distribution network impedance are static components, they can be fixed to nameplate or technical manuals values, and are not identified. The specific aggregation methods can be found in [18]. Moreover, PMSG is a rotating element.…”

“…Because making full use of all the transmission equations can eliminate measured data errors, a statistical parameter estimation method based on redundancy is proposed to cope with the situation where the measured data have a high degree of redundancy. It can reduce the locating error and be realized through the parameter estimation algorithm [14]. The formula (5) has sufficient redundancy, which is discussed Section 2.2, to satisfy the preconditions of the statistical parameter estimation method.…”
