Comprehensive modeling strategy for thermomechanical tribological behavior analysis of railway vehicle disc brake system

Abstract: A comprehensive modeling strategy for studying the thermomechanical tribological behaviors is proposed in this work. The wear degradation considering the influence of temperature (T) is predicted by Archard wear model with the help of the UMESHMOTION subroutine and arbitrary Lagrangian–Eulerian (ALE) remeshing technique. Adopting the proposed method, the thermomechanical tribological behaviors of railway vehicle disc brake system composed of forged steel brake disc and Cu-based powder metallurgy (PM) friction … Show more

“…The dependence of α k on temperature is relatively insignificant. For this reason, taking into account these comments, it is justified to assume a linear boundary condition of the third kind for the equation of thermal conductivity in the brake disc [23,26,28].…”

“…For the effect of temperature, Yin et al [83] proposed a comprehensive modeling approach to predict the thermomechanical tribological behaviors. In view of the lack of consideration of transverse shear stress, Wang [84] used the POD test and hip simulator wear test results to establish a wear model dependent on cross shear and contact pressure.…”
