Compressive strength model for concrete

Abstract: A predictive compressive strength model accounting for the type of cement, cement degree of hydration, aggregates type and gradation, mixtures proportion and air content was developed. This paper presents the formulation, implementation, calibration and validation of the proposed strength model for normal concrete. The theoretical formulation postulates that particles' interaction is governed by excess paste theory from which an average paste thickness model is developed to account for concrete mixture proport… Show more

“…Since the effect of SP, binder content and its characteristics, the w/c and aggregate content and the parameters described in [15,16] on concrete have already been studied, this study focuses on the effects of the quality and geological nature of NA on the compressive strength of concrete when all the mentioned parameters are constant, mainly by considering two modified models shown in the next sub-section. Thus, in terms of the aggregates, it is advisable to focus on the two mentioned parameters rather than only on the source of the aggregates, e.g., NA versus RA.…”

“…An overall view of concrete quality is reflected by the concrete strength [1]. In addition, compressive strength is a structural engineering performance measure, employed for designing concrete structures [2]. In practice, design engineers use different specified concrete strengths to design the structural components.…”
