Computed Tomography Imaging Findings of Pulmonary Chondroma

Abstract: Purpose To characterize the computed tomography (CT) imaging findings in patients with pulmonary chondroma. Methods We examined CT imaging findings of eight patients with histopathologically verified pulmonary chondroma. We assessed the location, size, shape, margins, amount of calcification, calcification pattern, and attenuation on precontrast and enhancement CT. Results All patients exhibited solitary, mildly lobulated pulmonary masses, which were located in the right lung in four cases and the left lung in… Show more

“…The tumour was discovered by an emergency CT scan taken when the patient presented chiefly complaining of cough. Although previous reports have reported cough as a clinical manifestation of pulmonary chondroma [2] , her cough was only coincidental and was not associated with tumour growth or multiplication. Although one report suggests that the growth of pulmonary chondroma is slow [3] , our report showed an increase in both the size and number of the tumours within 2 years.…”

“…Contrast-enhanced MDCT of the thorax shows normal postoperative findings 3 months after pneumonectomies [13], в единичном наблюдении хондрома была представлена мягкотканым образованием без кальцинатов [15].
