Computer-aided design of a coffee-dragging device

Abstract: Dragging is the most costly and time-consuming stage of the coffee harvest. Therefore, its mechanization is important. The objectives of this study were to design, build, and evaluate the dynamics of a coffeedragging device in a laboratory setting. The prototype consists of a dragging device with rods mounted on a metal plate and a chassis. Computer-aided design (CAD) software was used to generate a solid second-order tetrahedral mesh for use in finite element analyses of the device and its parts. It was possi… Show more

“…Oliveira et al 13 modeled and simulated a mechanical joint composed of a tractor and a coffee harvester to measure the highest stress points in order to improve the equipment operation. The model that represents the coupling in the trawl is composed of connecting rod and lever and discretized by second-order tetrahedral elements.…”

“…(Ortega;Jesus, 2011;Cassia et al, 2013;Tavares et al, 2016). However, research and development in harvesting machines for mountainous regions are also studied (Oliveira et al, 2014). In the same way, the use of portable harvesters for semi-mechanized harvesting also proves to be a good alternative for reducing the demand for labor, in more mountainous regions (Mejía;Tascón;Uribe, 2013).…”

“…The aim of this study was to design and fabricate a high clearance self-propelled hydraulic boom foliar applicator for wheat crop. Several researchers used Finite Element (FE) based techniques, a numerical analysis-based tools for the design and optimization of chassis for trailers, trucks, machinery, and for others agricultural implements [2,3,4,5,6,7,8]. A trolley type agrochemical sprayer was developed based upon FEM.…”
