Computer Aided Transient Stability Analysis

Abstract: A program for handling and improving the transient stability of the Iraqi Super Grid electrical network was developed. The idea was demonstrated by applying it to the outages of the main generating units. The methodology was built upon a state of increasing power transfer through the healthy portion of network during disturbances. There were three parts concerned; the first part was the developing of the load flow program using fast decoupled method and the transient stability program using Modified Euler’s me… Show more

“…Since, the transient stability has a role to play in case of major disturbances, the improvement of this stability is important. Many researchers and power system engineers have worked and proposed different methods and techniques to control the stability problem [5][6][7][8]. One of these technologies is Flexible AC Transmission System (FACTS) that is a family of several power electronic products [9][10][11].…”

“…Transient stability improvement is one of the important aspects in modern power system (Al-Rawi et al, 2007;Babainejad and Keypour, 2010;Sahoo et al, 2010;Parry and Gangatharan, 2005). They have proposed many methods to improve stability of power system such as load shedding, High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC), Flexible AC Transmission system (FACTS), (Hannan and Chan, 2006;Chettih et al, 2008;Seyed et al, 2008a).…”

“…High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) transmission line system is getting more and more popular because of lower investment cost in long distance, lower losses, asynchronous interconnection between power systems, better controllable power flow compared with Alternating Current (AC) system (Al-Abdulaziz at al., 2006;Lu et al, 2006;Sun et al, 2008). The great important role of power flow analysis is to determine the operating point of the existing, study in planning the future expansion and evaluate the best operating point of power system (Ahmed at al., 2008;Al-Rawi at al., 2007;Augusto at al., 2008;Noor at al., 2008).…”
