Computer classes and games in virtual reality environment to reduce loneliness among students of an elderly reference center

Abstract: Introduction:Physical and mental changes associated with aging commonly lead to a decrease in communication capacity, reducing social interactions and increasing loneliness. Computer classes for older adults make significant contributions to social and cognitive aspects of aging. “…It is important to note that there is a disconnect between what we know about the importance of naturally existing relationships as a way to promote social connections and the types of interventions studied in the existing literature. “…The software records the time between the appearance of the stimulus and the press of the space bar as a simple TRT with visual stimulus. The software was used by Crocetta et al, 26 Crocetta et al, 27 Antunes et al, 28 Herrero et al, 29 and validated by Crocetta et al 30 in a sample of 216 young adults, together with a mechanical validation using a robotic arm Crocetta et al, 31 with satisfactory validity and reliability.…”

“…The motor task was chosen to assess distal function motor ability (finger movement), which is considered an important target for poststroke individuals. According to Antunes et al [28], a computer task that improves the use of the computer keyboard comprises a technological ability that increases poststroke individuals' function and interaction with society (i.e., participation).…”
