Computer-integrierte Endoskopie

Abstract: Endoscopic examinations of the inside of the human body have been known since Hippocrates. Nevertheless, the breakthrough of endoscopy came not until the development of Bozzinis "Lichtleiter". Further progress and advancements in diagnostic endoscopy were reached by the use of electric light for illumination as well as glass fibers for the transmission of light into and image information out of the human body. By the integration of video sensors at the proximal or distal end of rigid or flexible endoscopes, it… Show more

“…7 , upper layers). As these new possibilities of endoscopy are inherently coupled with the use of computers, these new endoscopic methods and applications can be referred to as computer-integrated endoscopy [50]. Information, however, is referred to on the highest of the five levels of semantics (Fig.…”

“…The process of panorama image generation is also widely denoted as "mosaicking". Within the emerging field of "computer-integrated endoscopy" [6], several approaches and applications have been suggested for the generation of endoscopic panorama images (EPIs). As the computation of EPIs is quite complex and computationally expensive, most of the presented approaches from literature suggest "off-line" solutions, meaning that the calculation is done at some time after the examination.…”
