“…Affect has been proven to have significant impacts on social judgment, consumer preference, and employee job satisfaction (e.g., Forgas, 1995;Weiss, 2002;Weiss, Nicholas, & Daus, 1999;Zajonc, 1980;Zajonc & Markus, 1982). Recently, IS researchers have started to examine the affective side of IT from various perspectives such as trait versus state (e.g., Csikszentmihalyi, 2000;Venkatesh, 1999;Webster & Martocchio, 1992), antecedent versus consequence of cognition (e.g., Compeau, Higgins, & Huff, 1999;Van der Heijden, 2004;Venkatesh, 2000;Yi & Hwang, 2003), and positive versus negative (e.g., anxiety) (e.g., Compeau et al, 1999;Hackbarth, Grover, & Yi, 2003;Thatcher & Perrewe, 2002).…”

“…Several researchers confirm a causal link between experience and ease of use (Kanfer and Ackerman 1989), further suggesting that Test Time, Test Score, and Application Expertise affect Computer Playfulness, Computer Anxiety, and Ease of Use. Hackbarth et al (2003) found that prior application expertise is a significant antecedent of ease of use and that experience has no significant effect on ease of use over and above the effects mediated by anxiety and playfulness. Clearly, if the technological level of the training environment can positively affect the application expertise of a trainee, then we would expect lower levels of anxiety and thus a positive impact on ease of use as trainees become more familiar with the training materials.…”

“…Hackbarth et al (2003) found that system expertise was significantly related to ease of use and was mediated by playfulness and computer anxiety. In fact, computer anxiety was a full mediator having twice the impact of playfulness.…”

“…According to Hackbarth et al [25], shoppers are more likely to adopt and use a system than nonshoppers, as they spend more time exploring its capabilities. Also, computer anxiety is likely to create negative feelings in the direction of use [71].…”
