Computertomographischer Nachweis von Lymphknotenmetastasen bei malignen Hodentumoren

Abstract: Lymphography and computer tomography was performed on 64 patients with malignant testicular tumours in order to demonstrate lymph node metastases. In 60 patients it was possible to confirm the findings by surgery. In 43 patients there was agreement between the findings of the computer tomogram and the lymphogram. In 39 of these patients lymph node metastases had been demonstrated, in three there was a false negative and in one a false positive. Amongst the patients in whom there was a descrepancy between the t… Show more

“…Statements as to the percentage of false-negative results of computed tomography differ widely. Williams et al [67] report a rate of 7% while other authors find it to be up to 44% [9,10,28,41], Similar discrepancies exist regarding the combination of computed tomography and lymphography [10,28]. For a discussion of strengths and weaknesses of imaging tech niques see Husband [20].…”

“…This region usually contains enough fat to allow demonstration of lymph nodes with computed tomography (CT). Metastases from testicular tumors often produce bulky lymphadenopathy and this is particularly well demonstrated with CT (1,2,5,8,9,12,14,16,23).…”
