Concept and Implementation of a Software Architecture for Unifying Data Transfer in Automated Production Systems

Abstract: The integration of smart devices into the production process results in the emergence of cyber-physical production systems (CPPSs) that are a key part of Industrie 4.0. Various sensors, actuators, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems produce huge amounts of data and meta data that can hardly be handled by conventional analytic methods. The main goal of this work is to develop an innovative architecture for handling big data … Show more

“…If considered confidential, the alarm IDs are obfuscated by replacing them with hashes or entirely random values known only to the CPA. Similarly, the original timestamps are shifted by a constant amount to obfuscate the time of an alarm's occurrence [32]. Thus, data-driven RCA may be outsourced to publicly hosted cloud resources, even for confidential alarm data.…”

“…The IMPROVE architecture relies on a common data model embedded inside the middleware to overcome the drawbacks of heterogeneous data handling, proprietary tools, and a unique way of data processing. According to [12], the implementation of the standard interface is made by the data management and integration broker, which transfers and routes data between the components and layers of the so-called Unified Data Transfer Architecture.…”

“…The study will be more gelled with Industry 4.0 [16], which will be automating the error correction procedure and also allowing the resources to be shared and available over the network. The data about the resources, their scheduling, and their programs will be stored in the databases [17] which can be used as a knowledge base in the future [18].…”
