Abstract:In a tokamak, the first wall is a barrier protecting the internal parts of the machine from the intense fluxes of heat and particles coming from the plasma. This contribution presents the critical issues of a water-cooled first wall component based on steel as structural material, that is a relevant case study for the design of future fusion power plants.
