“…These findings confirm previous reports of strong genetic affinities between Brittany and Ireland relative to the general population of Great Britain (43). They were further supported with haplotype-based methods, which are more powerful than allele frequency-based ones to capture differential contributions from closely related populations (31,50). Indeed, by inferring ancestry profiles from a set of surrogate sources with GLOBETROTTER, we highlighted the ancestry contribution from Irish populations into present-day Bretons (~24%) and found relatively smaller contributions from Wales or Cornwall (~9- and ~3-fold, respectively).…”

Members of the UJC(ml) were the first to deploy what Bourg has termed ‘the strategy of “proletarian democracy”’, which aspired to serve the people rather than merely advocate for their political rights (2005: 487).…”

“…Contentious though his role may be, Le Bris has contributed to the literary and cultural life of Brittany throughout his career. In 1996, he wrote the script of a documentary on the Breton author of Le Cheval d’orgueil , entitled Per Jakez Hélias ou le conteur des merveilles (Viotte and Le Bris, 1996). He worked closely with Breton poet Youenn Gwernig and helped him to write his first novel in French, La Grande Tribu (1982) which inscribes the experience of Breton migration in the transnational poetics of the Beat Generation.…”
