Abstract:The condensation between 2,6-dinitrobenzaldehyde and a pyrrole does not afford a dipyrrylmethane but products which result from a duplication of the starting pyrrole or from oxydo-reduction reactions of the pyrryl-arylcarbinol 9 which arise from the condensation between one molecule of pyrrole and one molecule of aldehyde. The nitro groups of the benzaldehyde play a crucial role in these reactions.
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
