Abstract: Chiral molecules can act as spin filters, preferentially transmitting electrons with spins polarized along their direction of travel, an effect known as chirality-induced spin selectivity (CISS). In a typical experiment, injected electrons tunnel coherently through a layer of chiral material and emerge spin-polarized.
