Conditions for the success of peer evaluation

Abstract: Peer evaluation has recently become popular as an alternative to traditional performance appraisal. Research has described peer evaluation' s growing use, its potentially high validity and some of its related psychological mechanisms, but has not developed a framework for measuring or predicting its success.
