Conductor loss calculation of elliptical, cylindrical coplanar waveguides and coplanar waveguides with finite conductor thickness

Abstract: In this paper, new and fast analytical formulations have been presented for conductor loss calculations of elliptical (ECPW) and cylindrical coplanar waveguide (CCPW) with finite conductor thickness. These expressions are derived using conformal mapping techniques (CMT) and the validity of them is established by comparing the numerical results in the literature. These comparisons indicate that for the same conductor thickness the conductor losses of elliptical and cylindrical coplanar waveguide are higher than… Show more

“…The relative dielectric constant of the substrate is " r . The structure is analysed for the computation of the effective relative permittivity and characteristic impedance with help of the conformal mapping method (Du et al 2000;Akan and Yazgan 2004;Duyar et al 2009). The elliptical CPS is first transformed to the circular CPS (CCPS).…”

“…Recently, the elliptical (ECPS) and cylindrical coplanar stripline (CCPS) are used extensively in monolithic microwave integrated circuits (MMIC) [1][2][3]. Modern designers of MMIC, MIC and printed circuit antenna require a convenient and efficient CAD tool for synthesis of a frequency dependent multilayer planar transmission lines.…”

“…Modern designers of MMIC, MIC and printed circuit antenna require a convenient and efficient CAD tool for synthesis of a frequency dependent multilayer planar transmission lines. To date, many authors [2][3] have investigated the electrical parameters of ECPS and CCPS using full-wave approach incorporating a moment-method calculation and conformal mapping technique. The determination of losses of the transmission line is quite important concept in design steps of practical applications [1][2][3].…”
