In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, college students are encountering significant and unprecedented learning challenges. Learning lost, learning missed, social isolation, and an inability to fulfill basic needs have resulted in impacts to the cognitive, affective, and social dimensions of learning. This new context for higher education demands innovative and thoughtful approaches to teaching. In this chapter, the author makes the case for caring pedagogy as an imperative in the context of this new normal in higher education. The chapter includes suggestions for possible teaching strategies to help students navigate these new challenges.
