Confining ensemble of dyons

Abstract: We construct the integration measure over the moduli space of an arbitrary number of N kinds of dyons of the pure SU (N ) gauge theory at finite temperatures. The ensemble of dyons governed by the measure is mathematically described by a (supersymmetric) quantum field theory that is exactly solvable and is remarkable for a number of striking features: 1) The free energy has the minimum corresponding to the zero average Polyakov line, as expected in the confining phase;2) The correlation function of two Polyako… Show more

“…In recent years it has been suggested [10,11,12,13] that the SχSB in QCD and the phenomenon of conductivity in a disordered medium have similar physical origins. Conductivity in a disordered sample is produced by electrons that although initially bound to an impurity may get delocalized by orbital overlapping with nearby impurities.…”

“…As for the Skyrme model, the χQSM is based on a 1/N c expansion (with N c the number of colors in QCD). Its effective chiral action has been derived from the instanton model of the QCD vacuum [Dia86], which provides a natural mechanism of chiral symmetry breaking and enables one to generate dynamically the constituent quark mass. Although in reality the number of colors N c is equal to three, the extreme limit of large N c is known to yield useful insights.…”

“…Well-known examples include the Nambu and Jona-Lasinio (NJL) model [4], where the fourfermion interactions have been used to study dynamical breaking of chiral symmetry 2 ; the instanton inspired models [8], where 2N f -quark interactions (N f is the number of quark flavours) offer a possible framework to discuss the U A (1) problem [9]; the potential-type quark models which are successfully applied to the evaluation of hadronic parameters [10].…”
