Conformal Manifolds and 3d Mirrors of $(D_n,D_m)$ Theories

Abstract: The Argyres-Douglas (AD) theories of type (D n , D m ), realized by type IIB geometrical engineering on a single hypersurface singularity, are studied. We analyze their conformal manifolds and propose the 3d mirror theories of all theories in this class upon reduction on a circle. A subclass of the AD theories in question that admits marginal couplings is found to be SO or USp gaugings of certain D p (SO(2N )) and D p (USp(2N )) theories. For such theories, we develop a method to derive this weaklycoupled desc… Show more

“…Indeed, this is compatible with 3D mirror symmetry duality [245], which exchanges the Higgs branch of theory T A with the Coulomb branch of T B -the mirror dual of T A -and vice versa. Recently there has been a flurry of activity which has improved our general understanding of mirror duals of Argyres-Douglas theories [265][266][267][268][269][270] as well as the identification of new mirror dualities altogether [271][272][273]. Further insights into mirror symmetry can also be obtained [274,275] by exploiting the fact that 3D N = 4 theories have a topological sector [276,277], which descends from the vertex operator algebra (VOA) associated to N = 2 4D SCFTs [278,279] (see below for additional details on the appearance of VOAs).…”

“…In many cases, though not always, one can show that the magnetic quiver of a given 5d theory, is the 3d mirror of its torus compactification. This leads to an interesting interplay between 5d N = 1 theories and 3d N = 4 theories, and has prompted many recent studies [59][60][61][62][63][64][65][66][67][68][69][70][71][72][73][74][75][76].…”
