Conformational and Electron Dynamics Changes Induced by Cooling Treatment on GO:PEDOT:PSS Transparent Electrodes

Abstract: Due to issues related to the use of indium, the conjugated polymer poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene):poly(styrenesulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS) is considered as one of the main substitutes for indium tin oxide (ITO) in the structure of organic photovoltaics. Recent works demonstrated that the blend of PEDOT:PSS and graphene oxide (GO) can provide transparent and flexible electrodes with a higher efficiency than PEDOT:PSS itself. In this study, two series of cooled and not-cooled thin films of GO:PEDOT:PSS with differ… Show more

“…34 Unlike ZnO, the pure PEDOT:PSS film exhibits a smooth and uniform morphology (Figure 3c). 35 When mixing the two materials, mean square roughnesses of 39.2 nm for the PEDOT:PSS@ZnO1 film (Figure 3d) and 30.1 nm for PEDOT:PSS@ZnO2 demonstrate that the PEDOT:PSS@ ZnO2 film is smoother than PEDOT:PSS@ZnO1 which is in agreement with the SEM images (Figure 3f and g). These studies reveal that nanostructured films can provide important properties for application in gas sensors, so that the grain size affects the resistivity of the heterojunction, making the conductive properties of the films strongly dependent on the morphological character.…”

“…The Raman spectra of the two films are provided in Figure b. In addition to the D band (1341 cm –1 ) and G band (1594 cm –1 ) attributed to sp 2 and sp 3 hybridized carbon atoms in GO films, , two additional peaks at 1430 and 1510 cm –1 are distinct for the PEDOT-0.8/GO film. These peaks belong to the symmetric and asymmetric C α C β stretching vibrations of PEDOT polymer chains, respectively. , The existence of PEDOT in the GO film is further confirmed by the XPS analysis.…”

“…The development of hydroxyl, epoxy, and carboxyl groups on the surface of the carbon network was linked to this interlayer gap. Because of the elimination of the oxygen-containing functional groups, the interlayer distance of the GO was predicted to decrease [17]. Based on XRD spectra, increasing PEDOT:PSS/GO coating thickness cause no further modification to the structure compared to thinner layer.…”

“…The other part of the layer consists of a structure of a silicate layer, where the silicone atoms are tetrahedrally coordinated with oxygen. Thus, the structure of kaolinite mainly comprised of one silica sheet of tetrahedral fusing a single alumina of the oxygen sheet on one side and hydroxyls on the other of the oxygen planes [15][16][17]. Therefore, in this work, kaolinite and bentonite are chosen to intercalate with CP and carbon nanomaterials.…”
