“…The topography is varied, with large areas that are predominantly flat or nearly flat, while some other areas are gently rolling hills and certain mountain zones. According to Amorós et al (2015), Jiménez‐Ballesta et al (2021) and García‐Navarro et al (2022), after describing and sampling 275 soil profiles in this area, the investigated soils are characterised mainly as Luvisols, Cambisols, Regosols and Leptosols, with a verly significant proportion of Calcisols (IUSS Working Group, 2015); that is, Alfisols, Inceptisols and Entisols according to the US Soil Taxonomy system (Soil Survey Staff, 2014). The soils under study show different calcium carbonate distribution patterns in the profile and some examples of calcareous parent materials are as follows: limestone, marls, detritic deposits and carbonate sediments, alluvial deposits, and sometimes also non‐carbonated materials, such as granites, shales, arkoses, volcanic materials, and so forth.…”
