Currently, ICT has allowed the emergence of various digital tools that facilitate the research process. Given this, universities must assume the transfer of capabilities for their adequate use in this area. Therefore, the purpose of this research is to perform an analysis of the information management capacity for research in Peruvian engineering students based on three capabilities: search, selection, and processing. In the sample of 310 students, the results show a medium-level prevalence with an average of 69.4% in the three skills. This implies that universities and research centers should implement systems to accompany students in the development of strategies and procedures for them to carry out research efficiently.
