Along with the burden commonly experienced by informal caregivers (ICs) of people with dementia (PwD), associated with the progressive decline that accompanies dementia, the lockdown due to the public health crisis has had a great negative impact on the emotional wellbeing, physical health, and social relationships of ICs. Support interventions through telemedicine represent an opportunity for ICs to learn the skills required for the care and maintenance of social networks. In this work, a narrative review of the effects of e-health training and social support interventions was carried out. A literature search was conducted using the ProQuest, Ovid, and Scopus databases. Information regarding social support (SS), psychological interventions, and training for the management of medications and behavioral changes was extracted. One hundred and nine studies were included in this review. Forums and training platforms were the main tools for ICs. The most effective platforms to improve SS include the participation of both ICs and health professionals. However, no significant improvements in objective caring skills were identified. Platforms developed specifically for ICs should be based in tools that ICs are familiar with, because many ICs have not yet incorporated Information and Communication Technologies in many activities of their daily lives. Education in the digitalization to ICs of PwD should be one of the priority objectives in telehealth interventions.

Con frecuencia, los estudiantes se ven inmersos en situaciones, actividades y eventos académicos que generan estrés y ansiedad El objetivo de este estudio fue analizar el nivel de burnout y engagement en estudiantes de Ciencias de la Salud, así como la salud percibida en estos. Igualmente, dada la importancia de la Inteligencia Emocional en la prevención del desarrollo de burnout, el segundo objetivo de este estudio fue determinar la existencia de diferencias en función de la titulación, con respecto a los factores de la Inteligencia Emocional (interpersonal, intrapersonal, manejo del estrés, adaptabilidad y estado de ánimo). La muestra estuvo compuesta por 63 alumnos que cursaban titulaciones superiores de ciencias de la salud, a los que se les administró un cuestionario ad hoc, la versión para estudiantes del Maslach Burnout Inventory y la Escala de Bienestar en el Contexto Académico. De acuerdo a los resultados, no existen diferencias estadísticamente significativas en Burnout y Engagement entre los estudiantes universitarios de enfermería y los jóvenes que cursan formación profesional de Técnico de Cuidados Auxiliares de Enfermería. Igualmente, se halló que los jóvenes que sienten realizar de manera adecuada sus tareas y ser competentes en sus estudios presentan una autoeficacia más alta y una mayor dedicación hacia estos. A la par, la dedicación hacia los estudios mostró estar relacionada con la salud percibida. Por último, se halló la existencia de diferencias significativas entre los estudiantes de enfermería y de TCAE en el factor Intrapersonal. De manera que fueron los estudiantes de TCAE quienes mostraron una inteligencia emocional intrapersonal más alta.

Neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson’s and dementia are highly prevalent worldwide. People who suffer from these disorders often receive in-home care and assistance from family members, who must dedicate a considerable amount of time to the care recipient. The study of family caregivers’ psychosocial adjustment to the degenerative processes of both conditions is of interest due to the implications for the quality of life of both the care receiver and the caregiver, as well as other family members. This study compares the psychosocial adjustment of family members who care for people with dementia and Parkinson’s disease and identifies the main sociodemographic variables that affect the processes of adjustment to both conditions. To this end, the Psychosocial Adjustment to Illness Scale (PAIS-SR) and a sociodemographic form were administered to 157 family caregivers in Navarre, Spain. The results show that adjustment to the disease in family caregivers of people with Parkinson’s disease and dementia is, in general, satisfactory and related to variables such as place of residence, income, and employment status. The illness itself (Parkinson’s or dementia), however, is found to be the most influential variable in the level of psychosocial adjustment.
