Consequences of Reducing the Cost of PV Modules on a PV Wind Diesel Hybrid System with Limited Sizing Components

Abstract: The use of renewable resources for power supply in family homes has passed the stage of utopia to became a reality, with limits set by technical and economic parameters. This paper presents the results of a project originated from the initiative of a middle-class family to achieve energy independence at home. The starting point was the concept of home with “zero energy” in which the total energy available is equal to the energy consumed. The solution devised to meet the energy demand of the residence in questi… Show more

“…Silva et al (2012) studied the case of a middle-class family intending to install a PV-wind-diesel hybrid system that gives them independence from the grid. This simulation was performed with low cost for diesel oil, and so the diesel generator set is fired over the hydroelectric plant at precisely the time of year with greater water availability.…”

“…Among the other case studies, the first three of them (Silva, Cardoso & Beluco, 2012;Beluco & Ponticelli, 2014;Beluco et al, 2013) deal with the insertion of PV modules and-or other components or new fuels into previously existing diesel hybrid systems and the fourth (Benevit et al, 2016) of them studies the subtle influence of different wind energy availability profiles on the performance of a wind diesel hybrid system.…”

“…Wind and solar energy are forms of green energy with tremendous application prospects. At present, some countries have started research on the key technical problems of wind-photovoltaic-(PV-) battery units [1][2][3][4]. In 2011, China established a demonstration wind-PV-battery unit in Zhangbei; this project aims to explore the stability and economic efficiency of large-scale power grids with renewable energy sources [5].…”
