Conservation Status of Selected Plants of Mount Banahaw-San Cristobal Protected Landscape, Quezon Province, Philippines

Abstract: This paper assessed the conservation status of forest tree species found in Mount Banahaw-San Cristobal Protected Landscape (MBSCPL) specifically on Mount Banahaw de Dolores in Kinabuhayan, Quezon. The study made use of secondary data pertaining to the flora of MBSCPL Western Slope-Mt. Banahaw de Dolores and these were extensively reviewed. A list of indicators, generally qualitative, was formulated and served as basis to label 44 species into different threatened categories. This study revealed that there are… Show more

“…The data further showed that the T1-SNAP solution showed the heaviest fresh weight among the five treatments; the same result was observed in the study of Santiago (2019), wherein the plants cultivated SNAP solution consistently grew the tallest, most leaves, longest roots, and had the greater fresh weight per plant. It was also revealed in the study of Uy et al (2021) that plants grown in SNAP solution consistently increased their fresh weight per lettuce plant.…”

“…Generally, there are very limited studies about tree species composition and diversity in MBSCPL. Only three studies are publicly available which only focused on biodiversity assessment [14,15], the conservation status of plants [16], and the selection of plus and mother trees [17]. Furthermore, most of these studies were only focused on one side of the mountain located in the province of Quezon.…”

“…It is situated in the provinces of Laguna and Quezon in Southern Luzon, Philippines [19]. This holds unique keystone organisms, such as the endemic Rafflesia banahaw [20] and the members of one of the most threatened family, Dipterocarpaceae, including Shorea contorta and Parashorea malaanonan [16]. As a protected zone, the conservation of these biodiversity resources must be a top priority of the concerned institutions, thus, protecting them from disturbances and damages such as the threats brought by IAPS.…”
