Conservative Management of a Rare Entity—Aplasia Cutis Congenita: A Case Report

Abstract: Aplasia cutis congenita (ACC) is a rare entity characterized by a congenital localized absence of the skin, dermal appendages, and subcutaneous tissue. The cause of ACC is not clear, but inheritance is the most widely accepted cause. We report a rare case of a full-term (37 + 5 weeks) female newborn who showed complete absence of skin in localized areas of the upper and lower extremities. “…A study examining patient satisfaction and scar quality following upper blepharoplasty using a simplified preoperative marking technique developed by the authors (Dossan et al, 2023) is included, as well as a case study examining hand massage as a mechanism for relieving anxiety in preoperative patients (Rahmi et al, 2023). Alvedro-Ruiz et al (2023) provide an easy and effective method for avoiding intraoperative pedicle kinking, and Chang-Azancot et al (2023) report on a rare case of aplasia cutis congenita and the excellent results they obtained with conservative management of this condition. Finally, there is a very interesting article by Varga and Gross (2023) discussing oxidative stress status and its relationship to skin aging.…”
