Conservative management of acute calculous cholecystitis complicated by pancreatitis in an elderly woman

Abstract: Rationale:Acute calculous cholecystitis is a prevalent disease whose diagnosis and management still face significant debate. Although the overall incidence of gallstone disease is 18.8% in European women aged 30 to 69 years, there is little data and experience in managing acute calculous cholecystitis in populations over 80 years old. The incidence of acute cholecystitis among the elderly is probably increasing. For the reason, we here highlight the advantages and disadvantage of various treatment and manageme… Show more

“…In a smaller study, CMR was performed in a subgroup of 12 patients with late-onset Pompe disease and no myocardial LGE was detected; how many patients underwent CMR, and cardiovascular comorbidities were not reported 54 . Otherwise, there are data from some case reports; a case of isolated severe nonischemic cardiomyopathy with an infiltrative process and heart failure 55 , as well as a myocardial infiltration in a 54-year-old sportsman presented with syncope 56 .…”

“…T2 relaxation time has not been reported to show any significant changes 66 . Patients with late gadolinium enhancement required pacemaker implantation or had myocardial infarction 56 68 70 . Besides, extensive LGE in patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy has been shown to be an independent prognostic indicator for sudden cardiac death or appropriate ICD discharges 71 .…”

“…It may play a conservative role in treating inammation and avoiding surgery. [14][15][16][17] At present, there are few studies on Liubao Insect tea polyphenols (LITP), and little is understood about the active substances in this natural beverage. A mouse model of alcoholic gastric injury was established, the aim of this study was to the preventive effects of LITP on alcoholic gastric injury, and the mechanism of LITP's effects on gastric injury in mice was observed through biochemical and molecular analysis of serum and tissue, including inhibitory effects of LITP on proin-ammatory factors and tissue damage induced by oxidative stress.…”

“…acute pancreatitis (SaP) is a prevalent and serious disease caused by activation of digestive proteases in the pancreas, which may result in pancreatic tissue autodigestion, tissue edema, hemorrhage or acinar necrosis, although most are mild patients (mild acute pancreatitis, MaP), ~25% of patients worldwide are severe (severe acute pancreatitis, SaP), which is clinically dangerous and often complicated by systemic inflammatory response syndrome (SIRS) and multiple organ dysfunction syndrome (ModS) (1). although gallstones are known to be the main cause of acute pancreatitis, its diagnosis and management remain challenging, and the pathogenesis of this disease is not fully understood despite the proposal of several explanatory theories (2).…”
