“…The incidence of injury is rare, since surgery is performed by observing the nerve directly. [11][12][13] We experience that, in transverse incision, insufficient decompression and nerve damage are more common, since the procedure is performed blindly. Thirteen of our patients had nerve and vessel damage during surgery in transverse approach, while no complication occurred in the longitudinal approach.…”

“…If necessary, an operating microscope was used. A hypothenar fat pad flap, which is described in the literature as a reliable solution for recurrent CTS, was, at the request of the patients, not used [ 3 , 5 , 18 , 19 ].…”

“…The prevalence of CTS is approximately 5% in the general population [ 2 , 3 ]. It causes pain, numbness and/or tingling in the hand and arm and disturbed motor function of the hand [ 4 , 5 ]. In addition to sensory impairments (e.g., numbness and paresthesias), motor deficits occur in intrinsic median-innervated muscels such as the abductor pollicis brevis, the superficial belly of the flexor pollicis brevis and opponens pollicis.…”

“…Severe cases of carpal tunnel syndrome are usually treated surgically, whereas conservative treatment is recommended for mild to moderate cases. Although it is not described in the literature the ideal technique or combination of approaches due to the limitations of the studies 8 , 9 , 10 ) , several conservative treatments relieve symptoms and improve functional ability such as splinting, oral drugs, injections, specific manual techniques, neural gliding exercises, physical therapies and nutraceuticals. Among physical therapies, a combination of static and dynamic magnetic fields (PEMFs) is shown efficacious in CTS, significantly reducing short- and long-term pain and improving objective neuronal functions 11 , 12 ) .…”
