Constituents of Chimaphila japonica and Their Diuretic Activity

Yue Yu,
Deri Hu,
Jinze Liu
et al.

Abstract: Three new phenols (1–3), one new cyclohexanol (4), two known phenols (5–6), and six known flavonoids (7–12) were isolated from the n-butanol of the 75% ethanol extract of all plants of Chimaphila japonica Miq. Among them, compound 5 was named and described in its entirety for the first time, and compounds 9 and 10 were reported in C. japonica for the first time. The structures of all compounds were confirmed using a comprehensive analysis of 1D and 2D NMR and HRESIMS data. Biological results show that compound… Show more

“…Diuretics are important for treating many diseases, including hypertension, kidney disorders, and acute heart failure [ 26 , 27 , 28 , 29 ]. However, because chemically synthesized diuretics used in clinical practice have potential side effects [ 30 , 31 , 32 ], there is a need for natural diuretics.…”

“…In the current drug discovery module, molecular docking is the most widely used bioinformatics tool in academia and the pharmaceutical sector, where natural resources are the most alternative drug source and choice for most research work to use on a complementary, alternative, and repurposing basis (Swain et al, 2022a andSahoo et al, 2022a and. Researchers have implemented several similar types of computational-based approaches to assess the diuretic potency of natural products derived from different natural sources at a preliminary level, prior to expensive experimental studies (Islam et al, 2022;Yang et al, 2022;Yu et al, 2024). Generally, various constituents in crude extracts synergistically show multiple biological activities, but not all compounds are responsible for all diseases.…”
