Constitutive Law Identification and Fatigue Characterization of Rigid PUR Elastomers 80 ShA and 90 ShA

Abstract: This paper presents the results of a study of polyurethane rigid (PUR) elastomers in terms of the constitutive law identification, and analyses the effect of polyurethane elastomers’ hardness on fatigue properties. The research objects were PUR materials based on 4,4′-diphenylmethane diisocyanate (MDI) with the hardness of 80 ShA and 90 ShA, typically used in various industrial applications. Based on the performed experimental campaign under static and cyclic loading, the constitutive model proposed by Ogden i… Show more

“…Experimental data of a tensile test according to DIN EN ISO 6892 provided by a third party are used to fit the model. For the hyperelastic model of PUR D44, Arruda fitting by AN-SYS Workbench is used with data from [41]. The structural steel undergoes linear elastic modeling based on the expectation of low stresses.…”

“…Furthermore, Krzysztof Junik et al [4] present the results of a study of polyurethane rigid (PUR) elastomers in terms of constitutive law identification and analyze the effect of polyurethane elastomers' hardness on fatigue properties. The research objects were PUR materials based on 4,4 -diphenylmethane diisocyanate (MDI) with hardnesses of 80 ShA and 90 ShA, typically used in various industrial applications.…”

“…The crosslinking is not broken when heated, so once cross-linked, the material cannot be heat-molded again. They are usually insoluble, but they swell [ 3 ]. Elastomers—at low stresses—show high deformation (up to 1000%), since their glass transition temperature is below room temperature, so the temperature range of use is highly elastic [ 4 ].…”
