Abstract: The marine Bacteroidota Zobellia galactanivorans has a polysaccharide utilization locus dedicated to the catabolism of the red algal cell wall galactan carrageenan and its unique and industrially important α‐3,6‐anhydro‐D‐galactose (ADG) monosaccharide.
