Constraint-based document layout for the Web

Abstract: Constraints can be used to specify declaratively the desired layout of a web document. We present a system architecture in which both the author and the viewer can impose page layout constraints, some required and some preferential. The final appearance of the web page is thus the result of negotiation between author and viewer, where this negotiation is carried out by solving the set of required and preferential constraints imposed by both parties. We identify two * An earlier version of this paper entitled "C… Show more

“…2 , Now by [14], Section 3 (Theorem 3.1 and its proof) p s is absolutely continuous with Holder jacobian. Denoting this jacobian by j and changing varaibles in (78) (y, t) → (z, τ ) where z ∈ W u (y j ), g t y = g τ z we get (83)…”

“…Here we review Brin theory of compact group extensions ( [13,10,11]). We include some proofs to make this paper more self-contained as well as because later on we shall use the similar methods to obtain a quantitative version of the results of this subsection.…”

“…The progress here can be summarized as follows. First, Brin in a series of papers [10,11,12] applied the general theory of partially hyperbolic systems [13] to show that, in the volume-preserving case, such systems are generically ergodic and weak mixing. It then follows from the general theory of compact group extensions [43] that they are also Bernoulli.…”

“…In the field of multi-device authoring, we have identified two state-of-the-art approaches that focus on advanced multimedia scenes (also called Rich-Media documents) and propose the authoring of generic adaptation rules: constraint-based rules [5] and interpolation-based rules [17].…”
