Purpose\ud \ud – Despite the established significance of underlying accident causes to health and safety (H&S), and the persistent reporting of the underlying accident causal influence of construction project features (CPFs) which emanate from pre-construction decisions, no empirical research has focused on CPFs in terms of assessing their degree of potential to influence accident occurrence. The purpose of this paper is to, therefore, investigate this facet of the accident causal influence of CPFs. \ud \ud \ud \ud \ud Design/methodology/approach\ud \ud – A mixed method design was used involving semi-structured interviews, and a questionnaire survey of UK construction professionals. \ud \ud \ud \ud \ud Findings\ud \ud – CPFs generally have a moderate or a high potential to influence accident occurrence, implying a fair or severe potential to cause harm in terms of the H&S of workers. The degree of potential of CPFs to influence accident occurrence is influenced by: the extent to which certain proximate causes of accidents are common/prevalent within CPFs;and the degree of potential of those proximate causes to influence accident occurrence. \ud \ud \ud \ud \ud Originality/value\ud \ud – These findings provide insight into the H&S consequences of CPFs, awareness of which is essential if pre-construction project participants are to implement appropriate risk control measures especially in the early phases of projects to mitigate the accident causal influence of CPFs. The findings reinforce the contribution of clients and their design and project management teams to accident causation, the significance of the early planning of H&S in construction project delivery, and the importance of driving mechanisms such as the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2007

Abstract:The purpose of this study is to analyze the results of construction accidents occurred from 2011 to 2015 in Korea. The annual reports from the Ministry of Employment and Labor, Korea (MOEL), and the annual reports from the Statistics Korea were used for the analysis in this study. The gender, age, company size and accident types were chosen as a category to analyze the trend of various occupational accidents. In order to analyze the characteristics of construction accidents, incidence rates (IRs) and mortality rates (MRs) were calculated. Further, T-tests and ANOVA analysis were performed to discover the relationships among IRs, MRs, and chosen categories. Male workers' IRs and MRs were significantly higher than those of female workers. Construction workers over 40 years of age suffered the most from occupational injuries. In terms of company size, as company size increases, both IRs and MRs tended to decrease. Occupational injuries caused by falls were higher than other accident types each year. This paper will be able to provide information on occupational accidents for establishing strategies to reduce the accident rate in construction sectors of Korea.

Analysing significance of key quality factors for management of construction projectsThe study of key quality factors relating to construction project processes in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia has revealed that these factors are not accepted similarly by investors, contractors/subcontractors and project managers/consultants/designers. The first four ranked factors are: coordination of participants, communication, expertise/ knowledge, and planning and control, with various priorities among the mentioned participants. The study has also revealed that the significance of individual quality factors differs during various phases of construction projects depending on differing management standpoints. Istraživanje važnosti ključnih faktora kvalitete pri upravljanju građevinskim projektimaIstraživanje ključnih faktora kvalitete procesa građevinskih projakata u Bosni i Hercegovini te Hrvatskoj, pokazalo je da te faktore ne prihvaćaju jednako investitori, izvođači/podizvođači i voditelji projekta/konzultanti/projektanati. Prva četiri rangirana faktora su: koordinacija među sudionicima, komunikacija; stručnost/ znanje...; planiranje i kontrola, s različitim prioritetom unutar spomenutih sudionika. Istraživanje je nadalje pokazalo kako tijekom različitih faza građevinskog projekta važnost se pojedinih faktora kvalitete razlikuje s obzirom na različita upravljačka gledišta.
