Construction of a Nano‐rectangular Zn(II)‐Yb(III) Complex with Near‐Infrared Luminescent Response towards Metal Ions

Abstract: of main observation and conclusion One six-metal Zn(II)-Yb(III) complex [Zn 2 Yb 4 L 2 (OAc) 10 (OH) 2 (CH 3 OH) 2 ] (1) was constructed from Schiff base ligand bis(3-methoxysalicylidene)ethylene-1,2-phenylenediamine (H 2 L). 1 shows a nanoscale rectangular structure with dimensions of approximately 0.8 nm × 1.1 nm × 2.8 nm. Excited by ligand-centered absorption bands, 1 shows typical near-infrared emission of Yb 3+ ion. Interestingly, 1 exhibits lanthanide luminescent response towards metal ions, especially t… Show more

“…The Tb-O, Cd-O and Cd-N bond lengths are 2.31(2)-2.86(2) Å, 2.23(2)-2.54(2) Å and 2.22(2)-2.39(2) Å, respectively, which are comparable to those found in the Schiff base Cd(II)-Ln(III) complexes reported before. [21][22][23] The distribution of Cd(II) and Tb(III) in 1 could be observed in the energy dispersive analysis of X-ray (EDAX) images (Fig. 2a).…”

“…Lanthanide complex light‐emitting materials usually have the advantages of high luminous intensity, good monochromaticity and adjustable color [14] . In the last decade, there has been considerable activity in the field of luminescence [15] . Several other studies on the influence of the luminescence as a function of the orientation of the lanthanide complexes have been reported proved very promising to realize polarized light [16] .…”

“…[14] In the last decade, there has been considerable activity in the field of luminescence. [15] Several other studies on the influence of the luminescence as a function of the orientation of the lanthanide complexes have been reported proved very promising to realize polarized light. [16] However, up to now, the structurally accurate solid crystalline materials with lanthanide complexes as building elements for polarized light emitting in the visible light range have hardly been realized.…”
