“…Thus, we draw insights from the institution-based international business research and analyze firms' M&A motivation through explaining its relationship with home country institutions. We analyze the motives of acquirer firms from Asia Pacific countries most active in M&As in over 700 cross-border deals in European countries in 2007-2017, a period of an outward cross-border M&A wave (Xie et al 2017;Xu 2017) from the Asia-Pacific region (Verbeke et al 2019).
