“…While zircon rims in granitic glacial float from the NBM as young as ~1 Ma have been dated, the volumes of such granites and the petrological significance of such dates are unknown ( 59 ). Existing petrochronology of migmatites from the NBM does not show evidence of Pleistocene metamorphism and melting ( 60 62 ). Further mapping, geochronology, and quantification of leucogranite volumes in both syntaxes and constraints on the modal abundance of muscovite in the source rocks for these melts ( 15 ) are necessary.…”

“…The upper (northern) unit occurs as a NE‐SW striking belt within the northwestern part of the GHS and includes three tectonic slices that are separated by ductile shear zones or detachment and thrust faults (DF 1 and DF 2 ; Figures 1b and 1c). The upper GHS unit consists of gneiss, schist, amphibolite, marble, calc‐silicate rock and high‐pressure (HP) granulite and experienced an extended period of upper amphibolite‐facies to granulite‐facies metamorphism and partial melting from ∼50 to ∼3 Ma (Booth et al., 2004, 2009; L. Ding et al., 2001; Peng et al., 2018, 2022; Tian et al., 2016, 2020; Z. M. Zhang et al., 2012, 2015; Z. M. Zhang, Ding, Palin, et al., 2022). The lower (southern) GHS unit is composed mainly of migmatitic amphibolite and orthogneiss and underwent upper amphibolite‐facies metamorphic and partial melting.…”

The Nyingchi Complex is composed of amphibolite, migmatite, orthogneiss, paragneiss, schist, marble, and minor granulites (Zhang et al, 2010b(Zhang et al, , 2015aGuo et al, 2012Guo et al, , 2013Tian et al, 2020). The protoliths of the Nyingchi Complex include Paleoproterozoic, Early Paleozoic, Mesozoic magmatic rocks (Guo et al, 2011(Guo et al, , 2013(Guo et al, , 2017Dong et al, 2020a), and Neoproterozoic, Paleozoic-Cenozoic sedimentary rocks.…”

“…40 Ma to ca. 10 Ma (Ding et al, 2001;Liu et al, 2007;Booth et al, 2009;Xu et al, 2010;Zhang et al, 2010bZhang et al, , 2015bZhang et al, , 2018Su et al, 2012;Zeng et al, 2012;Liu and Zhang, 2014;Tian et al, 2019Tian et al, , 2020. It is unclear whether the large range in metamorphic ages represents long-lived or multistage HP metamorphism.…”
