Contribution of CNS and extra-CNS infections to neurodegeneration: a narrative review

Abstract: Central nervous system infections have been suggested as a possible cause for neurodegenerative diseases, particularly sporadic cases. They trigger neuroinflammation which is considered integrally involved in neurodegenerative processes.
