Contribution of community-based companies to sovereignty and food security in the Central Highlands of Ecuador

Abstract: Popular and solidarity economy (PSE) organizations number around 5,280 throughout Ecuador, with the participation of 153,390 registered members. However, only 1.02% of these companies are community-based and operate in the food production and processing sector.
