“…Interestingly, extended neutrophil parameters distinguished between infectious and non-infectious elevations in IG count. NEUT-RI and NEUT-Y therefore have potential to improve the interpretation of elevated IG levels in patients and providing added value to clinical practice 31 . Therefore, measurement of the total neutrophil population and any morphological changes may be more informative and aid in early identification of septic patients compared to quantifying IG count alone.…”

“…The IMS is based on novel techniques that quantify cellular activation and cell membrane composition using distinct fluorescence and surfactant reagents that target RNA, DNA, and bioactive lipids, respectively [810]. The IMS algorithm is given in S1 Fig.…”

“…Immature granulocytes (IG#) can be quantitated by counting cells in the area above neutrophil granulocytes on a 3D graph taking into account: size (forward scatter), complexity (side scatter), and fluorescence (side fluorescence). The complexity of neutrophil subsets (nucleus lobularity, granulations) can be assessed by the Neutrophil Granularity Intensity (Neut‐GI) . Activated monocytes among total monocytes and among leukocytes, Act‐Mono absolute count and % of Mono or WBC, respectively, can be quantitated by counting cells with high fluorescence in the area above monocytes on the 3D graph mentioned above.…”

“…Within the granulocytic lineage, Neutrophil Reactive Intensity has been reported to be increased in infected adult patients . Moreover, immature granulocytes have also been reported to rise in infected patients .…”
