Abstract: This paper proposes a new 8/6-pole splitwinding doubly salient permanent magnet (DSPM) motor drive. The analysis, control, implementation and experiments of the motor drive are presented. The magnetic field analysis is carried out using finite element method. The split-winding topology is proposed to extend the constant power operation range.
