Control of a pneumatic drive using electronic pressure valves

Abstract: The primary task of the electronic pressure (E/P) valves is to control the pressure continuously in different industrial automation processes. Their use in pneumatic drives allows regulating pressures in both cylinder chambers and so it is possible to achieve a direct force controlled actuator. Additionally to the force control, position control of the pneumatic actuator using E/P valves has been presented. A dynamic model for control purposes of the process has been derived, followed by the PID controller tun… Show more

“…The experimental equipment also includes two proportional pressure valves ( SMC VY1A00-M5) and two on/off solenoid valves ( SMC EVT307-5D0-01F). In this paper, the control of a pneumatic drive using these valves is not considered, although research with them has been done [ 14 , 15 ].…”

“…The Equation of Motion and the Pressure Dynamics were defined based in the model suggested by [4]. Once the author adopted in his research a symmetrical cylinder, it was necessary to bring the model to the reality of the present research, where was adopted a non-symmetrical simple rod actuator that has different piston areas in the rear and front chambers.…”
