Controllable Electrochemical Synthesis of Silver Nanoparticles on Indium‐Tin‐Oxide‐Coated Glass

Abstract: A simple electrochemical approach, which integrates nanoseed nucleation and a square‐wave cyclic voltammetry (SWCV) growth strategy, was developed to construct silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) on indium tin oxide (ITO)‐coated glass surfaces. Ag nanoseeds were first deposited on the ITO surface by using pulse chronoamperometry and the particles were then grown during the SWCV process. Factors that have great effects on the characterization of AgNPs during the electrochemical process were systematically investigated… Show more

“…Thus, this process has been employed in the fabrication of metal microstructures with welldefined shapes, such as nanorod arrays [44,45], nanosheets [46], pyramids [47], flower-like particles [48] and dendrites [49]. Some studies report about the electrodeposition of silver structures on indium tin oxide (ITO) [50,51], but also on aluminum [52] and anodized aluminum surfaces [53,54].…”

“…In our previous reports [23][24][25], we have electro-deposited template silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) on ITO substrates and carried out the galvanic replacement reactions. Figure 1 shows top-view and tilted-view SEM images of unreacted AgNP templates and those exposed to aqueous 0.1 mM HAuCl 4 solution for 2 h. Prior to the reaction the Ag templates show a morphology characteristic of semi-spheres in contact with a surface ( Figure 1A).…”
